Its just got stuff i write in it like poems and stuff and some photography. im 13 and a girl. and i dont want a broing title like My Poems and Photography. someting witty please, i have tried a few thigns and not really liked them.

I have before taken writings from a kid that was 9 years old. I printed a short story of hers. I would love to read your poetry anytime kiddo. My new book, Andy is a friend of the earth, a coloring book story is on its way to be delivered. I am thrilled. It targets kids that are 8 years old to 12 yrs old. Only because I had to come up with an age series that would go with the words of the book. Kids and/or adults will be able to color the illustrations i drew as they read the book. do you think it will go well with kids?

Hi there! If someone adds you to their friends list they can read your public entries, but they can't read your friends-only entries until you add them to your flist. Also since they added you, you can read their public AND friends-only entries. Hope this helps!

I'm not getting emails from LiveJournal anymore, why?

I usually get an e-mail EVERY time someone replys to a comment I make, or something like that, but now, I'm not recieving e-mails, but i'm recieving comments.. all my settings are correct, i've double-checked them. And i've made sure the e-mail address was correct.

Any chance you're using Hotmail? There was an announcement on LJ before that said that Hotmail users can't receive e-mail from LJ because Hotmail automatically thinks it's spam. The issue tends to apply to those who use Yahoo e-mail addresses for LJ every now and then too.

Reply:I've used several blog services from Wordpress to Livejournal to Blogger to Vox. Livejournal has a nice groups and communities system that helps for networking. The interface is pretty simple as well though it's probably the most limited of the services I use.





Paid LJ accounts are capable of more however. I used to have a paid account but dropped it recently since I'm focusing more on my wordpress blogs.

When you make an entry in your livejournal before you click "post to (whatever your name is)" beside it (to the left) you will see a drop down menu that says "show this post to" and click "friends" for just the people on your friends list to see ... or you can click "private" so only you will see the post. You will have to do this each time you post ... I don't know any other way. But this has worked for me really well! Hope this helps you! :)

- Go to any the site that you want to get the feed from. Click on the "RSS or XML" link or orange RSS button. A RSS file will come up on the next page. I have a journal Override, and when I edit something in it and hit Save Changes, it won't change on my LJ page. And I've tried refreshing. You can see the changes in the HTML in the override box though. Is there something where you can only edit so many times a day, or am I doing something wrong? I see there is an option to resize images you upload in photobucket. I also see there is an option to just post it directly to a blog (in my case live journal). If I resize the image and then try to post it, it comes out the same FULL size image. This is not a problem, per se, but I'd like the ability to have smaller images. I'm not an expert in HTML.





Also, I want to paste the image....not a link to the image.

Ok, I went ahead and signed up for PhotoBucket and LinkJournal so I could help you out with this question.





First, since you already have the image uploaded to your PhotoBucket account open it up in their resize page. Select the resize you want. The image will then be displayed as the size you selected.





Second, highlight the image (hold the left mouse button down then drag over image. You should see it highlighted in a blue color) and right-click, then select "copy".





Third, go to your LiveJournal post that you wish to paste the image into. Click in the area you want to place it, right-click, then select "paste". You should now see the re-sized image there now.





Last, finish editing your post and then submit it to your journal.

Reply:Sometimes if you've put a code that someone's made for an LJ layout, it may not work with your browser. I know I've had some problems seeing my layout correctly with IE or Netscape. If it works for whoever made it, that just may mean they have a different type of browser and can view it correctly. You can go on any layout community and ask people to make you a new one, or you can make a nice simple layout by using a default template and adding pictures.

I have a basic blog out on Live Journal, though I must admit that I don't update it very often. Of all of the blogging sites, I think it is the most flexible, is easy to use, and most of all is easy for your readers to access and read.





Some of the features that I like:


Mood setting -- My mood at the time that I write an entry can be set to give all readers a quick idea about how my attitude in general





Spell checking -- Its a bit cumbersome to use, but it is there





Readers can post comments about your journal entries





You can add pictures or media -- I find these distracting so I don't, but it is a feature.





Im sure there are lots of other positive points, and probably some negative ones.

Ok so I've been trying to do an lj-cut and it never works. Well, I've clicked Preview and every time it shows the images. I've been doing the %26lt;lj-cut text="blahblah"%26gt;cutstuff%26lt; /lj-cut%26gt; but it never works. I've even tried it on both a PC and a Mac. Help!!

Make sure there are no apostrophes in your text that's in the %26lt;lj-cut text="..."%26gt; part. That can mess it up. You might also try an lj-cut with no text just to see if that works. Just use %26lt;lj-cut%26gt; and %26lt; /lj-cut%26gt;. That may help you to figure out some of the problem.

If it's not open, and you care that much about the entry, just do it anyways

It will give you the option to view and edit your most recent entries. Type in the name of the community in the last section, and it should come up.


I'm not sure if you'll be able to access the entry, having left the community, but if it's possible, that would be the way to do it.

You can use photoshop or even MS-Paint. I use Paint-Shop-Pro and it's companion tool, Animation Shop.





Animations is just a series of .gif files (typically) with sufficient changes to look like animation. It could be 10 or so .gif files and with the animation shop, you can have it do effects like shifting or blinds. Photoshop might be able to do that, I'm familiar with Paint-Shop-Pro.

Reply:LJ is set up to prevent serious stalking. The best way to find someone on LJ is to know their username/LJ name. You once you know their name you can go to the upper right hand corner search box. You can type in their name %26amp; adjust the menu selection box to Site %26amp; User. Click Go and you will be taken to their user info page. From there you can add them as a friend by clicking on the head figure with the + sign figure located as the first box on the left hand side in that blue aqua rectangle at the top on the user info page.

Communities will only be able to see your Community post when you choose to post an entry to the community journal; when they click your name to see your journal (other community members) they won't be able to see yoru journal unless they request to be your friend first.

you are right that LJ is different than myspace and facebook. Those are more social, whereas livejournal IS social, but that isn't it's main purpose.





Livejournal is more of a journal, where you keep thoughts and such. If you are looking for people to connect to, do an interest search. Then you can find journals of people interested in that topic.
Reply:LiveJournal is more of a blog, rather than a social network site like Facebook and Myspace. Livejournal is more for blogging than anything else. The differences are large, but if you play around with it long enough, it makes perfect sense. Livejournal does not allow for as much editing of code than Myspace, so really the layouts should be a bit more universal.

I have a few types of friends filters. I have the one person I do not want to see my entry in the "Not In Group" category, and I've pressed save. I went back and looked and she was still in the "Not in Group" category, when I made my entry I put it to

I've got an account both on LJ and BS.





And I can say, for beginners and doesn't know CSS and HTML, BS is good. But LJ is also good because it offers a variety of layouts and themes, only that sometimes it's confusing.





For customization, I'll go with BS. There are lots of skins in the net. You just can download them. But LJ is really confusing. Lots of codes..





Anyway, LJ has communities (groups of LJ users of a specific interest) which you can join. BS doesn't have.





In LJ, you can upload userpics or icons. How many?! Uhh, depending on your account type. Minimum of 6 and maximum of 100, I guess.





LJ has the security options wherein you can choose whether you want your posts to be in private (YOU can ONLY see your posts), friends (your FRIENDS ONLY can see your entries) and public (EVERYONE can see your entries).





And, you can have your mood themes which are images you can use to modify (if that's the word) or spice up your mood/blog entry. - haha. I can't describe them.





Only that LJ has their HTML tags (such as the %26lt;lj-cut%26gt; and %26lt;lj-embed%26gt; which is a bit confusing for new users).

1. Livejournal is really weird when it comes to borders. I even tried to put borders around certain images in my profile and it wouldn't let me. It has a lot of programing put into it in regards to layout, so they don't want people to customize it too much aside from just changing the colors and adding a background image. It has a lot of programing put into it in regards to layout, so they don't want people to customize it too much aside from just changing the colors and adding a background image. So I am completely lost, I signed on for the first time yesterday after making my journal in january. I wanna know exactly the steps to adding a friends only banner? %26amp; maybe giving your LJ a look too? I am a TOTAL newbie like I mentioned lol so please use terms I will understand

Oh, Friends Banners don't have exact steps yo! Basically, just take any photograph you like (i.e. A Band photo, a group of friends, an apple if you want) and then you edit it in a image editing program.


I like the GimpV.2 but I'm way too lazy to make a banner. Photoshop is popular but expensive. You could use paint if you wanted to! Edit the picture and add a "Friends Only" logo anywhere on the picture. You can use the regular text tool or you can use the help guide to figure out how to add special effects to the text.





After you have created the banner here's what you do:


-Upload the image to photobucket or another image hosting site.


-Log into your journal and go to "post an entery"


-Grab the HTML link from your image hosting account and paste it right into the entry space. You may wish to center it and to do this you just type out the HTML Code for center which is


%26lt; center %26gt; beforet the link and %26lt; / center %26gt; after the link. Take out the spaces when you type this!!


-You can adjust the date accordingly to make this post the first or last entery in your journal if you wish.


-Don't forget!! This entery needs to be posted as a public entery or no one will see it! All of your other LJ enteries need to be private or friends only.





As for giving your LJ a look, go to the side menu and go to Journal %26gt; Customize. There are a ton of preset layouts and easy steps for creating your own unique look. Have fun, %26amp; I hope this helps you out!

You can reset your LJ layout by clicking on 'Customize Journal', and then on the 'Choose Journal Style' page, click on 'Customize your theme' at the right hand side of the page (specifically, it's a light blue box that says something like 'yourname's Current Theme'). After clicking that you'll be taken to the 'Customize Journal Style' page, and again on the blue box, click on 'Select a different theme' and you'll be taken to a page full of different themes for you to choose from. Hope this helps! :)

LiveJournal - how do I remove the square brackets around the date; and how do I change margins of the date?

1. THE SQUARE BRACKETS AROUND THE DATE:


Is it possible to remove them, and, if so, how?


They're really far left to the date on mine, and the opening bracket is above the date; the closing bracket is below the date; and it just seems easier to remove them altogether.





2. MARGINS:


I know how to change the table margins of the entries altogether - the post, the date, subject, etc. But is there a way to change the margins of the subject title and the date, specifically? The subject title and the date are way too close together for me, and I want them to be separated a little bit more.

Is there a way that you can transfer a picture made on paint to a blog (such as livejournal)?

I made pictures on paint and was wondering how to get it on my livejournal. I tried photobucket, but it makes it small and unreadable.

on photobucket: save that picture as a jpg and it'll keep it's size!!!


The only thing is it might mess the colors up alittle, but it will work





if that doesn't work do a screen caption on what you want (print screen above num lock) and go to paing and paste, size down then save as a jpg.





You could try to save it to yahoo photos, then just link that pic to your livejournal.





Or save on your myspace and link it like that using right click then properties.

Reply:adding to what the person said above: use Sys Rq, not Print Screen, Print screen is supposed to send a picture of your screen to your default printer.
Reply:Dont save it as JPEG... Paint really messes up the colors when you do that... Just save it as 24-Bit Bitmap and then Upload it to Photobucket... Photobucket will automatically convert it to JPEG without highly degrading the color.
Reply:Save it to your computer as a .png file. Then upload it at imageshack.us and choose don't resize. Then use the code they give you and put that in your LJ write window.

Will I run into publishing trouble later if I keep my story posted under private on LiveJournal?

I'm using livejournal.com to write a book so that I can access and write in it from any computer (I travel alot). I read through thr terms of service, and it does state that "LiveJournal claims no ownership or control over any Content posted by its users. The author retains all patent, trademark, and copyright to all Content posted within available fields." I also have it set on private, so no one can see it except me. So, if by some slim chance I publish it one day, will this come back to haunt me for some reason?

It is iffy because plenty of hackers are out there. But it's better than broadcasting it. I keep all my files on my desktop in Word. Once a night, I have a backup drive that copies all of them. I have a ton of firewalls and passwords and I work in Mac now which cannot be virused. It is much safer. Pax- C
Reply:Better to save your work to a "thumb drive" and carry it with you wherever you go. As long as the computers you use have a USB port you will be able to work on it anywhere without the risk involved in what you have been doing.





There is a high degree of uncertainty in putting anything on the Internet anywhere and, yes, it could be a problem when it comes time to publish. I would get that memory card soon and take down whatever amount of your work is up on the Internet.

I've heard that putting a whole piece of writing on the 'net can make publishers wary, because it's already in the public eye. Can it be searched on Google or another search engine? If it can I'm guessing this still applies if it can't then it's a grey area- neither certainly okay or positivly unrecommended.
