Maybe you're on the Plus+ account. They have ads. The free ones shouldn't have any on your journal. But on regular LJ pages, like home etc, there will be ads unless you're paid, probably.

If you copy someone's picture from livejournal, facebook, xanga, myspace, etc, can they know someone did that?
some sites use bandwith. not sure exactly how that works but if you download it can they know that someone is downloading their pictures onto the desktop?

Not unless they specifically catch you. Some sites can find out when others link to their pictures by checking for an unusually high number of downloads for a certain picture in the server logs. But as for downloading a picture to the desktop, it would be near impossible to find out unless you actually see the person do it. Also, since you are talking about sites like Facebook, you won't have access to the server logs anyway.

I am very interrested in learning how to make layouts for webpages and blogs. A future in webdesigning is my aspiration. find a layout maker that doesn't care if you edit the coding and then hack away. Check out the community http://premade_ljs.livejournal.com - they have a lot of layouts that work for everything - and you can alter the coding to put different images, ect.

If you look closely, the tele shots are crops -- check out the crummy quality.
And for the lens to get the close-in shots, it has to be wide.
So it's an 18-135 or so.

Sell your Corvette or Harley and step up to the plate
Reply:They may be using a long telephoto, but some of the shots are obviously cropped. Looks like there were using either a high ISO as well. Although the questionable quality on the crops could be from too much compression(JPG artifacting), cropping too deep or high ISO noise.

We agreed to trade items %26amp; I sent out package %26amp; the person said they never got it. Well, now they said they are going to the police department to report me. They live in a completely different state, pretty far away. But can I really get in trouble for this. I didn't get a tracking number when I mailed the package because I have never had this problem. Installed Fonts Not Showing On Livejournal?
My friends and I all downloaded several fonts from dafont.com - "Rai", "Wolves, lower", "Windsong", "Chopin Script", and a few more - but we can not get them to show up when we use the tags. I know we are using the proper font tag, as any other fonts we try to use show up without problem. Does anyone know why this would be happening? We've checked to see that the fonts are installed correctly.

How do u create a livejournal link to the rest of your entry?

Highlight the text you want to cut, then press the %26lt;lj-cut%26gt; button . In the dialog box, you can replace "Read more..." with another word or phrase to link to the entire entry.

For some reason I can't get into youtube, livejournal or Google.com. Virus or firewall problem?
These three sites are the ones I visit the most yet for almost a week I haven't been able to get into them (page says cannot connnect). I've done virus and spyware scans and they turn up nothing. It seems to only be these three sites. Is there something else I can try?

Is this from work? Sometimes they limit on the firewall what sites you can go to. Try going through a proxy like btunnel.com - if this doesn't work, email your system admin and ask him.
If it's a home computer, try renewing your IP address %26amp; flushing your browser temp files. Could be DNS issue. Good luck.

Is this from work? Sometimes they limit on the firewall what sites you can go to. Try going through a proxy like btunnel.com - if this doesn't work, email your system admin and ask him.

Not sure what you mean by 'posting' but if you mean putting an image from Deviantart to a Livejournal entry, you just have to save the image and re-upload it on a free image host like Photobucket or Funkyimg. Then on your entry page, post the picture by clicking on the image tool if you're using the Standard posting format. I had death threats put n there about me, but with my new account I have had nothing but positive reponse when i get a response. when i used to use livejournal, you had to pay to change it . (like 5 dollars i think). it would be way easier if you make a new page and copy everything into it, and just post on your old page and in your info the name on your new page.

How can I upload artwork to a Livejournal account?
I just opened an LJ account. When I try to upload artwork from a file, the artwork takes up the whole page of my journal and you can't see what it is without scrolling around it. I want the artwork to be seen all at once, a more manageable size. How can I change the sizes of the artwork I upload? What's the best way to upload? I've been clicking on the "Insert/Edit image" icon, choosing the image from a file, and clicking "upload" and "OK", but then it asks for a URL, to which I just put the address/name of the file. Am I going about this the right way?

I tried changing the 'adult content' viewing options but everytime I try to choose the "Do not collapse" for the adult content notice, it just goes back to collapsing it!

The thing is with hackers and viruses getting stronger its harder to protect users.The having to log in lessens the chance of some programs from stealing your information.the programs are autimated and can hit alot at once.Some sites are even increasing what you have to do to log in.

This is most likely to be because they are covering their tracks, and possibly doing it inadvertantly. It is improbably that large, established sites like livejournal, photobucket, etc. are changing their cookie storage policies because it inconveniences the end-user.
